Jeff Webb Varsity Brands is a renowned businessman, author, and executive from Shelby County, Tennessee. Webb is the president of the International Cheer Union and the creator and former chief executive officer of Varsity Brands. Current Functions in International Cheer Federation

Webb is the International Cheer Union's founder and current president. The International Cheer Union is the international governing body for cheering. In 2016, the organization was recognized as the international governing body for the sport.

The International Cheer Union, sometimes known as Cheer, was founded in 2004. Three years later, in 2007, the organization's founder, Jeff Webb, who had previously been affiliated with the National Cheerleaders Association and the Universal Cheerleading Association, became its president.

​

Cheer serves over 7.4 million athletes globally. Thanks to its president and founder, Webb, the organization is a proud member of the Association of International Sports for Everyone. The International Cheer Union is a certified worldwide nonprofit regulating body. Its objective and mission are to promote cheerleading as a sport.

Human Events

Webb serves as the senior news editor for the Human Events website. Human Events is an established news and analysis source in Washington, D.C. It derives its name from the opening line of the Declaration of Independence of the United States. Webb, an entrepreneur, novelist, and business executive, joined Human Events in 2020 as its senior news editor.

​

Its creators founded human Events in 1944 as a print publication. In 2013, it became a digital-only newspaper. Webb co-publishes the website with executive opinion editor Will Chamberlain and serves as senior news editor.

In 2022, co-publisher Webb led Human Events' acquisition of the Canadian online news magazine The Post Millennial.

History of Career at Varsity Brands

Jeff Webb Varsity Brands, founder and former CEO of Varsity Brands, founded the company's precursor, Varsity Spirit, in 1974. Varsity Spirit is currently a subsidiary of Varsity Brands. Webb served as the CEO of Varsity Brands until 2018. He continued to serve as the company's chairman until 2020.

Based in Memphis, Tennessee, Varsity Spirit is a global leader in the innovation of cheering, dance teams, and the performing arts. Via its educational camps, contests, and other activities, more than a million athletes connect yearly with Varsity Spirit.

Webb departed Varsity Spirit and its parent business, Varsity Brands, to concentrate on the World Cheer Union and other ventures, such as Human Events.

​

Herff Jones Webb served as Herff Jones' chairman until 2020. The Indianapolis, Indiana-based corporation is heavily involved in elite collegiate and professional sports, including Cheer. It is well recognized for creating and distributing educational recognition goods and motivating materials emphasizing accomplishment.

Webb, the business's chairman, took his role in 2014, following Varsity Brands' acquisition of the company in 2013.

Academic Heritage

Jeff Webb attended the University of Oklahoma, a prestigious public research institution located south of Oklahoma City in Norman, the third-largest city in the so-called Sooner State. It was established in 1890 and offered a comprehensive university education in a private college atmosphere. The institution has three campuses in Oklahoma and offers the opportunity to study abroad at other international sites.

Webb graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a bachelor's degree in political science and government. While enrolled, he became an active campus leader and was heavily involved with the school's cheerleading squad. This engagement led to his employment with the National Cheerleaders Association as a university student.

Webb worked with the National Cheerleaders Association after finishing his studies at the University of Oklahoma. His continued involvement with the organization would eventually establish his entrepreneurial career. After leaving the National Cheerleaders Association, he founded the International Cheerleading Association and Varsity Spirit, the forerunner of Varsity Brands.

Charitable Participation

Jeff Webb Varsity Brands, a renowned entrepreneur, author, and business leader, is a genuine philanthropist. Since 2002, he has worked closely with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is a global leader in understanding, treating, and eradicating juvenile cancers and other life-threatening diseases.

Also, he has substantial experience with the Special Olympics organization. The Special Olympics organization is the largest sports organization in the world. It offers training and activities for disabled children and adults throughout the year. It presently serves over five million users in more than 170 countries worldwide.

​

Before its discontinuation, Webb was a longtime Jerry Lewis MDA Labor Day Telethon supporter. The annual telethon provided the Muscular Dystrophy Society with much-needed funding. The charity Muscular Dystrophy Association continues to assist persons with neuromuscular disorders.

Accomplishments

Maybe more than any other individual, Webb is recognized for advancing and expanding the sport of cheerleading. He is also responsible for cheering being an official Olympic sport. He is still highly regarded as a leader in cheerleading worldwide and is lauded for establishing the sport's international reputation.

Jeff Webb authorizes the best-selling American Restoration book How to Liberate the Great Middle Class. The 192-page book details the author's efforts to make cheering a globally recognized sport. In addition, several initiatives advocated by the author to unlock the potential of the American middle class are described.

Jeff has many hobbies and interests outside his profession as an entrepreneur, author, business leader, and philanthropist. These interests and hobbies include sailing, conservation, duck hunting, and one-wheeling.

Father-of-two Webb spends as much time with his family and close friends. He was born and reared in the Tennessee county of Shelby. He resides in Memphis on the Mississippi River with his Labrador Retriever in the Volunteer State, still firmly established.
